Emmerdale star Danny Miller has teased following in the footsteps of his co-star Lawrence Robb, who has just been confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing.
Danny's Emmerdale role and recent storyline
Danny arrived in Emmerdale in 2008 as Aaron Dingle, a role that has placed him at the centre of some of the soap's biggest storylines, including his turbulent relationship with Robert Sugden. Recently, Aaron and Robert got engaged again after a romantic proposal following the Corriedale crossover with Coronation Street earlier this year.
The pair have settled down at Emmerdale Farm after Joe Tate blackmailed Robert to get his hands on Moira Dingle's farm and livelihood.
The Celebrity Apprentice appearance
Away from the soap, Danny is set to appear on The Celebrity Apprentice this year. The six-part series will see celebrities face weekly business challenges set by Lord Alan Sugar, with the winner receiving a £100,000 donation to a charity of their choice. The boardroom has been relocated to a London City skyscraper.
Joining Danny are Alexandra Burke, Gethin Jones, Jordan Banjo, Kay Burley, Maddie Grace Jepson, Max Balegde, Sheli McCoy, DJ Spoony, Richie Anderson, Laura Smyth and Toni Laites.
Danny's comments on the podcast
Speaking to Luke Hamnett on his podcast Live, Laugh, Luke, Danny said: "I asked if I could it. They want to change it basically because Netlfix, Prime, all them, they’re taking over and they want to collaborate a bit more. I asked could I do the Apprentice and they said ‘let us look at it’. I asked out of pure courtesy obviously, and they gave me three weeks off to do it."
He added: "They said, 'the top dog at ITV’s okayed it because they’re using you as a guinea pig to see if it works. That’s a compliment I think. Fine. I did it."
Strictly tease and Lawrence's confirmation
When asked if Danny could ever do Strictly, he cryptically responded: "I believe they are talking about the possibilities of that." Although Danny isn't taking part in the new series, Lawrence Robb, known for playing Mackenzie Boyd, will be. Lawrence reassured fans he isn't leaving Emmerdale.
Lawrence said: "I don't know who’s more excited about this, me or my Mother. I can't quite believe that I am going to be getting my dancing shoes on this September on one of my favourite shows of all time! It's a dream come true, and I can't wait to bring my all to ballroom. Wish me luck, and any advice is very welcome - trust me I’ll need it!"
He added: "Hello everybody, just a little video message to let you guys know that for the next couple of months, alongside strutting my stuff on the Emmerdale fields, I'm going to be strutting my stuff on the dance floor, wearing sequins and wearing tap shoes because, as luck would have it, I am doing Strictly Come Dancing!"
He quipped: "Help, please!" before adding: "Very much looking forward to it. It's very exciting, but I am terrified. So, be kind, and I will see you on the dance floor. Help!"
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
