DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) faces a difficult choice in Coronation Street after discovering that his girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) killed Theo Silverton. Kit Prioritizes Self-Preservation
According to actor Jacob Roberts, Kit is ultimately looking out for himself. 'He will protect her as much as he can, but Kit is ultimately going to protect himself first,' Roberts explained. 'He suddenly realises he’s been living with a murderer right under his nose. He isn’t going to be totally selfless here – he will only protect her as long as his own career is safe.'
Kit's perspective is shaped by Sarah's delay in confessing. 'His perspective is very much: “If you had told me this straight away, I could have done something about it. Now, I’m just left to pick up the pieces,”' Roberts added.
Sarah Arrested Despite Kit's Efforts
In next week's episodes, Kit attempts to gather information about the case but only raises suspicion when he questions DC McLaughlin (Michelle Tate). Later that day, Sarah is arrested for Theo’s murder, despite Kit having assured her that Gary Windass (Mikey North) was the prime suspect.
The following day, as Sarah faces interrogation, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) pulls Kit aside and warns him that they suspect his involvement. When Sarah is charged, Lisa urges Kit to stop protecting her, citing the risk to his career. However, Jacob Roberts indicates Kit is unlikely to listen. 'There is no way he’s listening to Swain after everything that happened with Becky,' he said.
Kit's Grudge Against Swain
Roberts elaborated on Kit's resentment: 'When Lisa completely dropped the ball and thought Carla was just away on holiday and was moving away with Becky, Kit was the one who actually found Carla. He didn’t just do his job, he went above and beyond to protect her and the people she cares about. So for Swain to turn around, go completely behind his back and arrest Sarah without so much as a courtesy heads-up? It’s a massive slap in the face.'
As Sarah's legal situation intensifies, Kit may face consequences for concealing her confession. The storyline continues to unfold on Coronation Street.
