Coronation Street fans have predicted a heartbreaking health twist for Gary Windass, believing the character may be hiding a cancer diagnosis. Beloved character Gary (played by Mikey North) has been acting suspiciously in recent weeks, ever since evil Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was killed off in April.
Gary's secretive behaviour
The abuser, who put Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) through hell, was murdered after his sick crimes were exposed, sparking a major whodunnit on the long-running ITV soap. The list of suspects includes Todd, Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson), Gary, and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), who has been charged with Theo's murder and is in jail.
Although Summer has protested her innocence, it appears that Gary and ex-girlfriend Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) are trying to cover something up. The former couple have been sparking suspicion with their odd behaviour, including secretive phone calls, private chats, and panicked reactions to updates in the Theo murder case. Sarah was seen hugging Gary, who seemed in a state, and he admitted he 'doesn't know how much more he can take' and 'can't do this anymore'.
Kit Green's suspicions
In Wednesday's episode (June 10), Sarah's boyfriend and copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) grew suspicious as he watched hushed conversations between Sarah and Gary. After learning about Gary's chats with Sarah, his partner Maria (Samia Longchambon) tried to hide her unease, worried about her relationship. Later, Kit warned Gary, making it clear he is watching him.
Now, fans are certain they know what Gary is really hiding. Predicting a heartbreaking health twist, one person wrote on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page: 'Could Gary be ill, but is worried about telling Maria so he has confided in Sarah for her support? Or could his business be going downhill and he's worried about telling Maria?' Someone else said: 'You could be right. Maybe cancer?' A third chimed in: 'I'm going with this theory.'
