Christy Knowings dead: Nickelodeon star dies at 46

Christy Knowings, the actress best known for her role on Nickelodeon's sketch comedy series All That, has died at the age of 46. Her family confirmed that she died suddenly in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Sudden hospitalisation and family statement

According to TMZ, Christy suffered an asthma attack on Friday which left her with brain damage. Her family ultimately decided to take her off life support earlier this week. Her aunt shared the news on Facebook, writing: "My brother Charles' daughter Chrissy (Christy Knowings) has passed… She was a outstanding actress, comedian, twin sister, an amazing daughter….Rest in power Chrissy."

Christy's manager, Al Hill, remembered her as a dedicated performer. "Christy was a multi-talented lady," he told Variety in a statement. "Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work."

Career highlights

Knowings joined All That during its fourth season, performing alongside stars like Danny Tamberelli, Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, and Amanda Bynes for three seasons before exiting in 2000.

Following her time on Nickelodeon, she had a recurring role on Sesame Street alongside her twin brother, Chris Knowings, from 2008 to 2011. In addition to acting, Christy was a musical artist who released her song "To the World" in 2020.

Second loss this year

Christy is the second former All That cast member to die this year. Kianna Underwood, 33, was killed in a hit-and-run collision in Brooklyn in January. She was crossing the road between Watkins Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brownsville when the incident took place. Her body was found with severe trauma, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Kianna appeared on the Nickelodeon series during its later years and also worked as a child actor on other television projects.
