Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) has risked everything in Coronation Street after telling a brutal lie to George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) to cover their backs during a police investigation into the death of Theo Silverton. The lie implicated their friend Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), but Christina later claimed she muddled her timings.
Christina's Spending Addiction Exposed
Earlier this week, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Prenger) noticed Christina sneaking off to her car and alerted George. He was reluctant to think the worst, but Glenda found a credit card statement belonging to Mary Taylor (Patti Clare) in Christina's handbag. George then caught Christina embracing a man, Lenny (Joe Osbourne), at the precinct. Christina admitted to a spending addiction and revealed she had set up a credit card in her ex-husband Lenny's name, defrauding Mary and Glenda.
George's Attempt at Support
Despite being disgusted, George agreed to attend an addicts support group with Christina. However, Mary and Glenda were less forgiving. Mary held a flash sale of household items bought on her card, infuriating Christina. The next day, Mary continued to taunt Christina, who received a notification that a parcel was out for delivery, indicating she had spent more money.
Consequences for George
A courier arrived at No.11 with a parcel for Christina. Deeply embarrassed, she admitted to Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that she still hadn't controlled her spending. Todd covered for her when George saw the parcel, but warned her he wouldn't do it again. Christina assured him she would change, but her compulsive behaviour appears to be worsening, with dire consequences for George.
