Amy Macdonald Reveals Lewis Capaldi Supported Her Early Career
Amy Macdonald: Lewis Capaldi Backed Her Early Career

Amy Macdonald has revealed that Lewis Capaldi supported her at the beginning of his career, as she prepared to perform just before his headline set at TRNSMT. The 'This Is The Life' singer, who took the Main Stage at Glasgow Green, described the experience as 'exciting' and noted that she first played the festival years ago, and last year performed at the Hangout stage under the pseudonym Ms Rock N Roll.

Amy's Nervous Start at TRNSMT

Amy admitted she was nervous during her first TRNSMT performance in 2021, uncertain how the crowd would receive her songs. However, her worries quickly faded. She said: 'The first time I played TRNSMT, I didn’t know what to expect. It was quite a young crowd and I was a bit worried thinking they might not know my songs. And they did, and it was one of my most enjoyable gigs.'

Lewis Capaldi's Early Support

With Lewis Capaldi scheduled to perform after her, Amy shared that the two have known each other for years and praised him as a 'lovely guy'. She explained: 'He supported me right back at the start. He came to a few gigs in Germany.' When asked if she ever gave him advice back then, Amy joked: 'He didn’t need it.'

Open to Collaboration but Shy

Amy also mentioned she would be open to collaborating with other artists but is too shy to make the first move. She said: 'I’m actually really shy, so I would never just approach them and ask them. If anybody asked me, I’d always be open to it. But I would never be the one doing the asking.'

Pre-Festival Fun

Amy enjoyed some driving ahead of her TRNSMT appearance with old friends, specifically hitting golf balls at the range rather than her other favourite sport of motor cars. She joked: 'We’re all happy that I hit the ball.' Additionally, she shared a letter on her Instagram from the Boston Red Sox to the tartan army and Scotland team, praising them for their time there.
