Amanda Owen has celebrated a major milestone at Ravenseat Farm as her daughter Edith takes charge of the family's beloved cream tea tradition. The Yorkshire Shepherdess lives and works on the farm with her ex-husband, Clive, and their nine children. Their first documentary series, Our Yorkshire Farm, debuted on Channel 5 in 2018 and has since become one of the broadcaster's most popular programmes.
Return to screens
The family returned to screens this month for the fourth instalment of Channel 4 favourite, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids. The follow-up documentary series follows the family as they undertake the renovation of a 200-year-old farmhouse in the Yorkshire Dales. The new series has already seen the family welcome three new puppies to the farm, with the children taking on various farm jobs. The return of the Ravenseat cream tea tradition is also featured.
Edith's new venture
Before rising to fame, Amanda was serving cream teas to passers-by on their Swaledale property. Now, Edith, the fourth-oldest child, has taken charge to bring back the tradition. Speaking at a recent live event in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, Amanda said: "It's an empire built on cups of tea really, where any good business starts. We did cream teas initially on the Coast to Coast run, they stopped but they're back now. Edith is running that with the help of others."
She added: "It's exciting to see the children getting opportunities. We gave Edith the little pop-up serving hatch, and she's made a business out of it." Amanda also revealed that Edith temporarily "fired" her younger sister, Clemmy, after she audibly sighed when a customer asked for a photograph.
Fan support
Last month, Amanda celebrated Edith's achievement on Instagram, reposting a guest's positive experience of having cream tea at the farm. The caption read: "Edith, you are so very lovely & you should feel proud of what you have achieved [two heart emojis]. Thank you @heleneinbetween for posting about your visit, it was lovely to welcome you to our farm."
Fans flooded the comments with support, with one writing: "Edith is amazing!!!!! She was so kind too." Another added: "Beautiful young lady [heart emoji], and clever too, we were at yours in March, so gutted we missed this, hopefully next year." A third said: "Best scones I've ever tasted and will be back again soon. Well done Edith, Violet and everyone and thank you. It was so delicious I nearly forgot to take a photo!!"
Someone else commented: "Well done Edith, be very proud of yourself, you are a beautiful girl, so kind and caring. Amanda all your family are pure joy and a credit to both you and Clive. We've watched your series from day one and have loved watching the children all grow up. Would love to visit Ravenseat one day." A fifth fan echoed: "Fabulous, well done Edith, you are a superstar."
