Caroline Koziol, who played Katja in Hollyoaks, has landed the lead role in an American production, five years after leaving the Channel 4 soap.
From Hollyoaks to Hollywood
The actress portrayed Polish immigrant Katja, an unsuspecting van driver caught up in a criminal scheme, back in 2021. Katja drove a van transporting laptops that were targeted for theft by Brad King (Tom Benedict Knight), Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) and Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood).
Felix pretended to be a police officer, claimed a safety violation and redirected Katja's van to a garage. He tied her hands but she managed to free herself in the garage office, grabbed her keys, and ran to her van. However, while reversing her van to escape, Katja accidentally knocked over Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson), who had walked in on the criminals, leaving her unconscious.
TikTok success
Since leaving Hollyoaks, Caroline has become one of TikTok's biggest comedy performers, with her Karolka Show sketches attracting over a billion views around the world. She currently has over 699,000 followers on Instagram and over 700,000 followers on TikTok.
Sharing her exciting news, Caroline told the Mirror: "I've recently been cast in a lead role in an American production which is a really exciting step for me. I'll be heading to the US to film early next year. I'm not able to share details of the project publicly just yet."
Following in famous footsteps
Caroline follows in the footsteps of Nathalie Emmanuel, Roxanne McKee, Ricky Whittle and James Corden, who all appeared in Hollyoaks before hitting Hollywood.
Ricky played Calvin Valentine from 2006 until 2011 and was crowned runner-up in the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing before heading stateside to star in a number of American TV shows including Single Ladies, NCIS, The 100, Mistresses and American Gods.
Nathalie played Sasha Valentine from 2007 until 2010, going on to land her role as Missandei in Game of Thrones and starring in huge blockbuster franchises Fast and Furious 7 and 8 alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.
After her character Louise Summers was killed off on her wedding day in classic soap style, actress Roxanne kept a low profile on the TV front before returning to the public eye with a role in Game of Thrones as Doreah, alongside fellow Hollyoaks starlet Nathalie.
Gavin and Stacey star James played Wayne the College caretaker in Hollyoaks back in 2001 before carpooling with A-listers and attending Met Galas.
