Tammy Slaton, star of TLC's 1000-lb Sisters, has achieved her goal weight, paving the way for bariatric surgery. The 40-year-old reality star, who once weighed 725 pounds and relied on a wheelchair and oxygen machine, has dropped more than 180 pounds, leaving fans ecstatic.
Weight Loss Journey and Health Struggles
Tammy, now known as Tammy Willingham, was admitted to a food rehabilitation center after years of struggling with her weight. Last year, she was rushed to the hospital due to breathing difficulties. Her sister Amy Slaton revealed, "Her body shut down." Tammy required a tracheotomy and was dependent on a breathing tube for months. Since beginning rehab, the tube has been removed, and she now uses an oxygen cannula.
Reaching the Target Weight
Tammy entered rehab weighing 717 pounds, which she described as "the most" she had ever weighed. In a recent clip from the show, she expressed her anxiety about stepping on the scale, saying, "I need to get to 550lbs for me to be approved for surgery. Until then, I hate getting on a scale. My worst fear is gaining weight. I don't want to disappoint my family or myself." When she finally weighed in, the doctor revealed she was 534 pounds—16 pounds below her target.
Emotional Reaction and Support
Her sister Amanda gasped, "Are you serious? For real? Tammy, you see that?!" while Misty admitted she was "so stoked" for her sister. Tammy shared her emotional reaction: "When I got on the scale and saw it was at 534.7, I kinda stopped breathing for a second. From over 700, that's a huge drop. I did that! I'm feeling thrilled, proud, excited - just all the emotions. I proved everybody wrong. Everybody that doubted me, I finally got mine! My told-you-so moment!"
Transformation and Next Steps
Tammy has revealed she is prepared to undergo the operation, and recent TikTok clips suggest the procedure may have already taken place. She appears considerably slimmer in the face and has swapped her breathing apparatus for oxygen cannulas. Supporters describe her as "happy and healthy," noting she already resembles an entirely different person.
