The Yorkshire Vet, known for its heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking stories, is filmed primarily across the Yorkshire Dales and the surrounding rural countryside, as the Channel 5 title suggests. Shooting takes place around North and West Yorkshire, with a focus on the veterinary practices where the stars work.
Key filming locations in North Yorkshire
The most famous of these practices is the Skeldale Veterinary Centre in the traditional market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire. This is where All Creatures Great and Small star Alf Wight, Peter Wright and Julian Norton all previously worked.
After leaving Skeldale in 2021, Peter went on to treat local farm animals and pets at Grace Lane Vets in Kirkbymoorside, which is about half an hour's drive from Thirsk.
West Yorkshire practices and surrounding scenery
Other filming locations include the Sandbeck Veterinary Centre in Wetherby in West Yorkshire, located on the banks of the River Wharfe. Following Julian's departure from Skeldale, he went on to co-own and found the independent practice with a number of his colleagues.
Donaldson's Vets in Huddersfield is also featured for additional regional practice, which is where vet Matt Jackson-Smith works.
As well as these towns and their veterinary practices, The Yorkshire Vet also features views of the surrounding countryside of the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. The Yorkshire Vet continues every Thursday at 8pm on Channel 5.
