Will Best was moved to tears on Strictly Come Dancing while reflecting on his TV career and the support of his family and friends. The 41-year-old's emotional moment came during Saturday's (October 31) Halloween Week episode of the BBC show, where he performed a couple's choice routine with Dianne Buswell.
Career ups and downs
In his VT, Will explained that the song he danced to was by Big Brovaz, in homage to his current role presenting the ITV show alongside AJ Odudu. Speaking about his presenting career, he told Strictly viewers it has been "peaks and troughs".
He commented: "Started strong, T4 and The Crash and Freshly Squeezed and everyone was like, 'This is it, Will. You have made it'. Then in the space of, honestly, one month, they all got cancelled and, you know, it was scary."
"You can be busy doing things and then suddenly it can all sort of go away. But, I was lucky enough to, I don't know, get a bit of a second wind."
Emotional tribute
A clip then played of Will in front of the Big Brother house with the live crowd and his co-host on stage. Will added that when he found out he'd gotten the role, he didn't believe it.
He was soon overcome with emotion when he spoke about the support he's had from his family and friends throughout his career. He added: "I'm proud of myself for not giving up, but I wouldn't have been able to keep going if it wasn't for, like, the friends and family that I have…"
Will then started to choke up as he whispered in tears: "We'll come back to it." During the segment, Will's mum, Lindy, added: "Seeing him on television, it's just lovely, and he did that himself through sheer determination, and I feel incredibly proud."
Judge scores and leaderboard
Will and Dianne's couple's choice routine was highly praised by the judges as they were given a score of eight from Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke.
This gave him a total score of 32 for his Halloween Week performance and put him joint fourth on the leaderboard with Dani Dyer. However, there's concern for Olympian Tabitha 'Tabby' Stoecker after her Quickstep routine failed to impress the judges.
Despite being awarded a 10 by two judges last weekend and earning the highest score of the competition so far, she found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard in Halloween Week after being given a total of 25. With a triple dance-off happening for the first time in Strictly history this weekend, it remains to be seen whether the Olympian will be one of the couples fighting for their place in the competition.
