Ring doorbell footage has revealed the moment Leejay Heavey was shot in the leg on Radway Road in Huyton after being asked by two men on an e-bike if he was known as "Dusty".
Convictions at Liverpool Crown Court
John Jones and John Hughes were convicted at Liverpool Crown Court of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Prosecutors said they had ridden to the home of Jordan Thompson, known as Dusty, with a plan to intimidate him, but Mr Heavey was an innocent bystander.
The prosecution told the court: "Leejay Heavey was in the wrong place at the wrong time and had nothing to do with Jordan Thompson." A sawn-off shotgun was fired twice, with the first round striking Mr Heavey in the lower leg.
Injuries and investigation
Mr Heavey suffered two fractures to his fibula and needed several operations, ultimately resulting in one of his calf muscles being removed. The shotgun was later found discarded in a pub car park after police gave chase to the e-bike.
Jones, 35, of Stamfordham Drive in Allerton, and Hughes, 32, of no fixed address, have been remanded in custody and will be sentenced on November 5.
