Royal Ascot 2026: Kate's Yellow Dress and More Royal Style for Less

Royals from Kate Middleton to Zara Tindall have arrived at Royal Ascot, and they brought their best summer colours for the occasion – here’s how to get their looks for less.

As day two of Royal Ascot gets underway, it’s been a very royal affair that’s seen several members of the Royal family arrive at the event. From Zara Tindall’s co-ordinated outfits with husband Mike Tindall yesterday, to Kate Middleton and Prince William being joined by Kate’s mum Carole Middleton, the Royal Family has been putting their best race day-looks on display.

Bold summery colours seem to have been top of the agenda, with Zara opting for a lilac midi dress and Carole wearing a pale pink coat dress, whilst the Princess of Wales exuded optimism and sunshine in a bright yellow dress. Not only were the women on the same page about their summer-inspired colour palette, but it seems both Kate and Carole opted for a re-wear of an old favourite when choosing their dresses for the occasion.

We’ll definitely be taking some race day inspiration from the Royals, and if you want to get their look for less, we’ve found some brilliant alternatives that won’t break the bank.

Kate Middleton’s sunshine yellow dress

For day two of Royal Ascot, Princess Kate re-wore her Roksanda Brigitte Dress which comes in a sunny shade of bright yellow. She’s previously worn the midi dress to the 2022 Wimbledon finale, and it features a tailored silhouette, a full skirt and an oversized bow detail on the shoulder.

Whilst Kate’s dress has long since sold out, we found some fantastic lookalikes that’ll get you her look for less. The Sorelle Belted Midi Dress Yellow from Girl in Mind is just £53, and has a similar fit-and-flare silhouette, with a ruffled bow on the shoulder and a belted detail to accentuate the waist.

Meanwhile at Nobody’s Child, the Yellow Frill Sleeve Lola Midi Dress is now on sale for £45 down from £75.65, and has a more understated, simple design. It has subtle ruching detail around the bust and figure-skimming fit, with statement ruffle short sleeves to bring a hint of Kate’s dress to it.

Zara Tindall’s playful lilac dress

There’s some debate about whether Zara’s dress is technically lilac or bubblegum pink, but what we do know is that it’s an as-yet unreleased piece from one her favourite designers, Rebecca Vallance. Whilst Zara’s dress is set to be released soon, in the meantime we found some fantastic alternatives which mirror the same belted, tailored shape with puff sleeves and statement details.

This Bow Front Short Sleeve Bandage Midi Dress from Coast is £129 and features a fitted bodice with short sleeves and a flared, voluminous skirt. Rather than a scalloped neckline like Zara’s, it features bow detailing down the front which give it a playful twist that Zara is known for.

Another great option from Coast is the Short Sleeve Shirt Jacquard Midi Dress which is priced at £149, and has a similar style not only to Zara’s Ascot dress, but to other designs she’s worn in the past. It comes in a pale lilac colour with jacquard print, a fitted shirt-style silhouette with a collared neckline, and a matching waist belt.

Carole Middleton’s pink coat dress

Princess Kate’s mum, Carole Middleton, was also in attendance on day two of Royal Ascot, opting to re-wear one of her favourite dresses; her pale pink Catherine Walker coat dress, which she wore to the wedding of her daughter Pippa Middleton in 2017. It comes in a soft pastel pink shade, with a flattering collared design and button up front, and soft pleats in the skirt.

One dress that has a similar style is the £129 Lisa Tan Collared Satin Belted Wrap Dress from Coast, which has more of a wrap silhouette and soft satin details around the lapels, cuffs and waist belt. It has a fluid A-line skirt and three-quarter sleeves which give it lots of movement, and make it suitable for any season and occasion.

Alternatively, you could pick up this new-in Sienna Tux Midi Dress from Phase Eight which is slightly pricier at £229, but has a very similar look to Carole’s Catherine Walker dress. It has a button up front with a draped, collared boat neck and a tailored midi skirt.
