Ross Kemp's Emmerdale role revealed before EastEnders fame
Ross Kemp's Emmerdale role before EastEnders fame

Ross Kemp, best known for his role as Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, is now appearing in BBC One's The Celebrity Traitors, where he is overthinking every conversation and suspicious glance. But before he donned Grant's leather jacket, Kemp had a stint in another soap: Emmerdale.

Graham Lodsworth in Emmerdale

Kemp played Graham Lodsworth, the son of Dolly Skilbeck and a troublemaker. Given up for adoption in 1968, Graham arrived in the village in the 80s and began stalking his mum. After following her into the woods, he revealed his identity.

He stayed in the village for two months, bonded with Seth Armstrong, and left when he was sent back to the army. A few years later, Kemp headed to Walford after being cast as Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, a role that ultimately changed his life.

Investigative journalist and Celebrity Traitors

Away from soapland, Kemp is an investigative journalist known for award-winning documentaries exploring social issues, global conflict, and organised crime. He has admitted the psychological pressure of Celebrity Traitors was more stressful than dodging bullets from the Taliban while filming war-zone documentaries.

In the latest episode, after Hannah Fry was recruited by traitors Maya Jama and James Acaster, contestants worked on a mission using a battering ram to smash crypts open, finding treasure and shields inside. When Myha'la took a shield and handed it back at the end of the game to secure more money, it proved to be her downfall, as she was banished from the castle.
