Patsy Kensit: Noel Gallagher asked why I stopped working

Patsy Kensit has revealed that Noel Gallagher took her aside during her marriage to his brother Liam and asked why she had stopped working. The actress, now 58, said she 'lost herself' during her time with the Oasis frontman.

Marriage to Liam Gallagher

Patsy began dating Liam shortly after separating from her second husband, Jim Kerr, in 1996. They married in April 1997 at Marylebone Town Hall, having previously called off a February wedding due to press attention. The couple welcomed their son Lennon in 1999, but separated and divorced in 2000.

Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Patsy said: "I think what I forgot in that time was how much I'd done before it. That relationship became so big. It was bigger than me and therefore the pressure was huge." She added: "I lost part of who I was going into that relationship. I somehow lost her."

Noel's intervention

Recalling a conversation with Noel, Patsy continued: "I remember Noel, who is lovely and divine, and he's just always been lovely to me over the years. I remember him taking me to one side and saying, 'Why aren't you working? Why aren't you...', because I was always off doing films and going to the States and stuff. And I remember saying, 'Because I'm too afraid to leave him on his own.'"

Eventually, her relationship with Liam "ran its course". Patsy said: "There were some fantastic times. We were very irresponsible. I always say I had some very late nights in the 90s."

Emmerdale return

Patsy's podcast appearance comes after it was confirmed earlier this year that she will reprise her role in Emmerdale after 20 years. She played villainous Sadie King from 2004 to 2006, arriving by helicopter as the scheming wife of Jimmy King. Her storylines included a house explosion and affairs with Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle, before Cain double-crossed her and left her behind.

After Emmerdale, Patsy played Faye Morton in Holby City between 2007 and 2019. She also appeared in EastEnders as Emma Harding, mother of the late Lola Pearce-Brown.
