Krispy Kreme has launched a doughnut in collaboration with BBC's The Traitors, and the hidden filling reveals whether you're a Faithful or a Traitor. However, the secret centre proved a little too secret — the reviewer needed three bites to discover their allegiance.
The doughnut's secret centre
The doughnut is topped with chocolate icing and features an edible shield bearing Claudia Winkleman's heavily fringed, slightly disguised face. Biting into it reveals the filling colour: orange 'kreme' for Faithful and green for Traitor.
The first tentative bite revealed a slightly firmer exterior than a standard Krispy Kreme, giving way to a nice, doughy middle. But the secret centre was not immediately apparent — the second bite still left the reviewer entirely in the dark about their status.
Taste and price
On the third bite, a sliver of orange made itself known — the reviewer was a Faithful. Despite the vibrant orange and green colouring, the filling surprisingly tasted exactly like a standard raspberry jam.
While it might not be the most mind-blowing flavour profile in Krispy Kreme's line-up, the £2.99 price tag is easily justified by the fun novelty factor alone, the reviewer said.
The Traitors line-up and air dates
The Celebrity Traitors series kicked off last week. Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney are all part of the original line-up.
The series airs two nights a week on Thursday and Friday evenings at 8pm, so it is a little bit of a commitment, but it's well worth it, the reviewer said.
