In a dramatic turn of events on Emmerdale, Lewis Barton has made a firm decision to leave the village after discovering that Kev Townsend is his biological father. The shocking revelation came after Kev returned to the ITV soap following news of Lewis's kidnapping by Kylie, who demanded the return of a valuable diamond necklace Kev had stolen.
Kev eventually handed over the necklace to secure his son's safety, but Ross Barton ordered him to leave the village for good. However, Kev ignored the warning and returned to Dale View, where he burst into song and revealed the truth to Lewis. Lewis struggled to accept the news, rejecting Kev's attempts to build a relationship and questioning why his birth father had suddenly decided to enter his life after so many years.
Lewis's Emotional Exit
Determined to escape the emotional turmoil, Lewis announced he was heading to Cleethorpes to spend time with the man he considers his 'real dad.' Before leaving, he delivered a final message to Kev, telling him he hoped he would be gone from the village by the time he returned, making it clear he has no interest in forming a relationship with his biological father. This raises the question of whether Kev will also exit the soap.
Actor Bradley Riches, who plays Lewis, commented on the storyline: 'It's going to be a learning curve for both of them. Lewis battles in his head with his adoptive parents, they gave him so much love, they have been his parents.'
Future Possibilities for Kev
Riches added: 'Now there's a new father figure on the scene, Lewis will worry that he's cheating on his parents and struggle to balance it out well. He's got to learn a lot. Kev's got to learn a lot. Also you find out a lot about Kev's upbringing and why he has the potential to be a good dad. Because he doesn't want to be the father that he had, which is quite nice. There are lots of ups and downs and a lot of learning to do. In the long run, Kev will definitely get there!'
