Brooklyn Beckham mocked for cottage pie; hits back with 6-word reply

Brooklyn Beckham has been mocked online after posting an Instagram cooking tutorial for a homemade cottage pie. The 27-year-old, who regularly shares cooking videos on his Instagram page, has made it clear on numerous occasions that he "isn't a chef" and considers himself a home cook or food enthusiast rather than a trained professional.

Potato blunder sparks criticism

Despite this, Victoria and David Beckham's son continues to face criticism after making a notable blunder while preparing his cottage pie. Followers and critics swiftly flooded the comments section to challenge his unconventional techniques. Rather than peeling his potatoes before boiling them, Brooklyn boiled them whole with the skins still on, before attempting to peel the scalding hot, softened potatoes afterwards. Commenters branded it the "weirdest way to do potatoes".

Viewers also pointed out that his mashed potato topping visibly sank into the meat layer beneath. Critics suggested this occurred because he failed to allow the minced beef to cool sufficiently before adding the mash on top.

Eagle-eyed home cooks also took aim at his kitchen safety, urging him to place a damp tea towel beneath his chopping board to prevent it from slipping while cutting.

Six-word response to trolls

Following the backlash, Brooklyn fired back with a six-word response, telling followers: "Im obviously not a professional chef." He went on to say he 'just loved cooking' and expressed his gratitude to those who had left encouraging comments.

One supportive fan told Brooklyn the dish 'looked tasty', while another wrote: "Great knife skills chef!"

Defence of wife Nicola Peltz

Brooklyn has a pointed message for one particularly vicious troll who set their sights on his wife Nicola Peltz. The troll wrote: "Do you comment on everyone who is concerned about your wife and how sickly she looks? She puts herself out there. Feed her."

Brooklyn was quick to fire back in defence of his wife, replying: "Don't ever talk about my wife. She's absolutely beautiful and you should never comment on a woman's body. It's disgraceful."

The post comes after Brooklyn faced more online backlash and mockery earlier this month after reposting another culinary video where he appeared to scoop seawater directly from the ocean to boil pasta. The aspiring chef originally shared the clip in July 2025 to promote his hot sauce brand, Cloud23. By re-sharing it a year later on TikTok, he reignited identical health concerns and trolling from critics who questioned his kitchen habits and motives.
