Bonnie Tyler mural unveiled in Skewen birthplace

A new mural of Bonnie Tyler has been revealed in her birthplace of Skewen, honouring the Total Eclipse Of The Heart singer.

The striking piece has been unveiled at the memorial hall off Wern Road in Skewen Memorial Park. It is the work of Steve Jenkins, more commonly known as Jenks Art, who is behind many similar projects across south west Wales.

Mural details and design

The huge new mural features Bonnie's likeness, along with a total eclipse of a heart beaming down on a field beneath it. It also features the emblem of Coedffranc Town Council.

Residents have been travelling to visit the mural and chat to artist Steve Jenkins, with images showing people viewing the work on Tuesday and a drone's view of the piece.

Tribute to a local star

Born Gaynor Hopkins, Bonnie Tyler died in a Portuguese hospital on July 8 at the age of 75. In August, on the Saturday before her funeral, people lined Newton Road in Mumbles and applauded as a hearse carrying her coffin, draped in a Welsh flag, made its way through the area.

It was recently reported that Bonnie's final recording, titled Love, Light and Peace, will be released on Friday, November 13. The song was written by Chrissie Hammond and 2026 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Terry Britten, and produced by Britten and David Mackay – reuniting the Mumbles-born star with the collaborators at both ends of her career.
