Alison Hammond has revealed she suffered a wrist injury, appearing on Friday's This Morning with her wrist strapped up. The presenter, who returned to the show last week after suffering a panic attack on air, explained the cause of her latest mishap during the live broadcast on 16 October.
Fall during TikTok filming
Co-host Dermot O'Leary opened the segment by joking about the pair's run of bad luck, before Alison showed off her bandaged wrist. She clarified: "I was doing a little TikTok with my friend and basically there was a rock in the middle of the floor and I didn't see it because I had sunglasses on. It was a decorative rock, I didn't have my glasses on, didn't see the rock.. fell over the rock."
Dermot said he had watched footage of the tumble and described it as a "proper plant", to which Alison responded: "I mean, I went down. But you know what? I'm fine. I'm a little bit injured, but I've got it all strapped up." Displaying her new wrist support, she added: "I think it looks sick!"
Return after panic attack
The incident comes weeks after Alison was taken off-air during a live broadcast of This Morning, when she was spotted dashing from the studio while presenting her regular Friday slot alongside Dermot. She later confirmed she had experienced a panic attack, having initially feared it was a heart attack and sought medical attention at hospital.
When she returned to the show the following week, she thanked Dermot for "holding the fort" and said: "Thank you to everyone who sent their good wishes. All I can say is, in that moment, it was probably one of the most scariest things that I've ever been through." She described the experience as feeling like she had "gone into the Upside Down" from Stranger Things.
Reflection on the episode
Alison also spoke about the guilt she felt after learning it was a panic attack, saying: "I feel guilty that I didn't have a heart condition or anything... but I didn't know, it was the first time I'd ever experienced anything like that." She added that the live nature of the show made her worry her son might be watching, and that she "just ran off TV" because she couldn't catch her breath.
She continued: "It was like a wave, something which I now found out is adrenaline that came into my body. I couldn't catch my breath, and I genuinely thought I was having a heart attack." Addressing Dermot, she said: "I'm so happy that I'm here and to see you, you were wonderful. If anything, it's made me look at life so differently." This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
