Former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Alicia Douvall has married businessman David Anstiss in a Hertfordshire wedding at the beginning of August. The 47-year-old model said she had never known happiness like it after tying the knot with David, 45.
A fairy-tale ending after years of doubt
“I’ve always been the runaway bride who never wanted to get married,” she said. “But when I finally did, it was the most amazing thing ever. Neither of us had really been in love before, which made it even more special.”
Alicia, who appeared on CBB in 2015, first met David in November 2024. While he was instantly smitten, Alicia was initially hesitant. “I’d switched off,” she admits. “I’d been celibate for 10 years and wasn’t looking for anyone.”
A surprise proposal in the Maldives
David proposed in the Maldives six months after they met. “Initially it was just going to be a holiday,” he says. “But the way our lives had intertwined, it just felt natural.”
With the ring he had chosen, he got down on one knee at sunset, leaving Alicia stunned. “It was a complete surprise. I had no idea whatsoever,” she recalls. “Of course I said yes – and then I made him propose again every day, in different places all around the resort.”
Family and dress details
The couple chose not to invite celebrities, so just 90 family and friends joined them at the church. Alicia’s daughters Georgia, 31, and Papaya, 14, were bridesmaids, while David’s cousin was best man.
Alicia lost over a stone during a pre-wedding health-kick, meaning her gown and a more informal evening dress had to be altered at the last minute. David admits he was overwhelmed when he saw his bride approaching in her dress and five-metre veil.
After saying “I do”, the newlyweds walked back down the aisle to Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s Shallow. They enjoyed a minimoon in Spain, with a proper honeymoon in the Seychelles planned for next year.
Alicia is focused on growing her beauty brand Douvall’s, and building deeper foundations with David.
