Students across the North East have been celebrating their A-Level results today, with many securing places at their chosen universities.
Top Achievements at St Mary's and Dame Allan's
At St Mary’s Catholic School in Newcastle, over 20 students achieved at least three A/A* or Distinction/Distinction* grades across their Level 3 qualifications, with many more securing strong results across their chosen programmes of study. Among the successes were Oliver and Elisa, who will be studying Engineering at the University of Oxford and Medicine at Hull York Medical School.
One standout success was Dame Allan's student Eddie Seery, who was celebrating an outstanding set of A-Level results and a place at the University of Oxford. The 18-year-old, from Gosforth, achieved A* grades in Economics, History and Spanish and will now head to Oxford to study History and Spanish.
Record STEM Performance at RGS Newcastle
The Royal Grammar School Newcastle was also celebrating its strongest ever performance in STEM subjects, with 41% of STEM A-Levels awarded at the A* grade – the best result in the school’s history. Overall, 90% of grades were A*-B, 66% at A*-A, and 33% at A*, with 73 students celebrating straight A*-A grades.
Other schools across the region, including St Aidan's and St Anthony's in Sunderland, Northumberland schools, Newcastle School for Boys, The King Edward VI School Morpeth, Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Fenham, St Thomas More Catholic High School in North Shields, Emmanuel College, and Sunderland College, also shared photos of their students' successes.
