Several predictions made by the blind Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga appear to have come true in 2024, including economic crisis and worsening climate change. Baba Vanga, born Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova in 1911, lost her sight at age 12 and claimed to see the future. She died in 1996.
Her forecast of an economic crisis seems partially accurate. While the UK economy grew slightly, many people still rely on food banks amid global inflation and job layoffs. Financial struggles persist worldwide.
Baba Vanga also predicted environmental challenges. 2024 is on track to be the warmest year on record, with extreme weather events globally. Deadly floods hit Valencia, Spain, and record rainfall affected several European countries in September. Hurricane Beryl became the earliest category five storm in June, and the Philippines experienced six typhoons in a month. Extreme heat in Mexico killed hundreds.
Medical advancements for cancer and Alzheimer's were another correct prediction. In 2024, new tests for cancer in under-18s and improved cervical cancer treatments emerged. Alzheimer's clinical trials showed the disease could be slowed, and the UK approved the first disease-modifying treatments.
However, her prediction of biological weapons used by a powerful nation did not come true. Despite global tensions, such weapons have not been deployed.
For 2025, Baba Vanga predicted a war in Europe between two countries, human telepathy, and alien contact during a major sporting event.
