A woman has been killed following a violent argument over onion rings at a Steak 'n Shake drive-thru in St. Louis, Missouri, in a shocking incident that has left the community reeling. According to police statements, Meekins and a male co-worker became embroiled in an argument with customers inside a vehicle that had pulled up to the drive-thru window. During the escalating confrontation, an individual in the car fired shots through the drive-thru window, striking both employees. Meekins was declared dead at the restaurant scene, while her co-worker sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Tamela Washington, Meekins' mother, revealed that the argument centered on onion rings, expressing her devastation to local outlet KMOV. "It's never that serious to take a person's life over some fast food," she stated, highlighting the senseless nature of the violence.
Washington described her daughter as a "loving, caring, friendly" individual who had been working at the Steak 'n Shake for only a few months. She shared that she had spoken with Meekins just hours before the shooting, during her break, telling KSDK that her daughter was "happy, cheerful, on the phone laughing."
Plea for Justice and Upcoming Birthday
In an emotional appeal, Washington questioned the motive behind the attack, saying, "I just want to know why, why would you shoot her? You didn't have to shoot her or the other employee. I wish they'd find the person who did this and bring justice to my family. I want my baby back."
Tragically, Meekins was due to celebrate her 33rd birthday on April 23, less than two weeks after the incident. Instead of planning celebrations, Washington now faces the grim task of arranging her daughter's funeral. "Her birthday is April 23 of this month. Instead of celebrating her birthday, I will be burying my daughter for some senseless act over some onion rings," she told KMOV.
Washington fondly remembered her daughter's generous spirit, adding, "She would give you the shirt off her back if she had it." The community and authorities continue to seek answers in this heartbreaking case, as the search for the perpetrator intensifies.
