An 18-year-old woman has tragically died after being struck by a loading lorry in a park in Southend. Police say the vehicle was taken without authority by a group of people, including teenage boys.
Incident Details
The incident occurred in the Chalkwell Park area of Southend in the early hours of Saturday, June 13. The woman sustained severe injuries and was rushed to hospital but later died.
Essex Police were called at around 12:30 AM on June 13 to reports that a group had taken unauthorized control of a small articulated loading vehicle. The woman, aged 18, suffered significant injuries and was taken to hospital, where she sadly passed away. Officers are supporting her family.
Arrests and Investigation
An 18-year-old man from Westcliff and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They remain on bail until September. Police believe there were many young people in the area at the time and are appealing for witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact them.
