Swindon stabbing: Man arrested, victim seriously injured

A man has been arrested on suspicion of a serious assault following a stabbing incident in Swindon that left another man with significant injuries.

Arrest Made in Penhill

Wiltshire Police confirmed they arrested a 36-year-old man in the Penhill area in connection with the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, 3 December. The suspect was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

The victim, a 39-year-old man, sustained what authorities describe as "serious injuries" during the alleged knife crime. He is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Police Appeal for Information

Investigators believe the attack took place near the North Swindon Family Centre on Atworth Close at approximately 5.30pm. Police are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at that time, or who may have captured relevant dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage, to contact them immediately.

Chief Inspector Carly Nesbitt sought to reassure concerned residents, stating: "We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and there is not thought to be any ongoing threat."

Increased Patrols to Provide Reassurance

Acknowledging the alarm such events cause within a community, the police force has committed to maintaining a visible presence in the area over the coming days. Officers will be on hand for residents who wish to voice concerns or share information.

"If you have any concerns or information, please approach our officers," Chief Inspector Nesbitt urged the public.
