Police Dog Mila Helps Arrest Two Suspected Fraudsters

Two suspected fraudsters were arrested and a hidden mobile phone was seized thanks to Police Dog Mila during strike day warrants executed at four properties in Chester-le-Street, Morpeth, and Hartlepool. The operation, carried out by officers from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) with support from Northumbria Police and Cleveland Police, led to the arrest of two men aged 59 and 54.

Hidden Phone and Valuables Seized

Police Dog Mila played a crucial role in uncovering a hidden mobile phone, which was seized along with several high value watches, multiple digital devices, and significant amounts of financial documentation. The police action is part of a continued approach to disrupt fraud and protect North East communities.

Ongoing Investigation

Those arrested were taken into police custody while enquiries continue. NEROCU has issued advice to potential investors, urging them to research platforms, avoid rushed offers, cold calls, and suspicious links. They warned: 'If it sounds too good to be true it probably is,' and advised only investing what one can afford to lose.
