Mountain rescuers were called into action for three separate incidents across North Wales, assisting casualties suffering from serious fractures and a dislocated knee.
First Callout: Severe Fall at Carneddau
The first of the recent incidents for the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation members, logged as Callout 125, occurred in the Carneddau at Chwaral Penmaenbach Quarries when a local climber suffered a severe fall.
The organisation reported: "A local climber fell approximately six metres onto a ledge and suffered a large open fracture of their ankle. The team deployed and treated the casualty with pain relief and a vacuum splint' it was decided the best method of extraction would be Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter and the casualty was flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd ED."
Second Callout: Fell Runner with Wrist Fracture
Team members were then alerted to Callout 128, which took place in the Carneddau at Maen Esgob.
According to the rescue team: "A local fell runner was running on the coastal path when they fell and suffered a painful wrist fracture. Unable to continue, they called for help and local team members deployed straight to their location and were also able to drive vehicles close by."
"The casualty was given pain relief and their wrist put in a vacuum splint before being driven to friends who took them to hospital."
Third Callout: Dislocated Knee on Tryfan
The third emergency, recorded as Callout 131, centered on two scramblers traversing Y Grib Bigog, or Bristly Ridge, on Tryfan.
Describing the rescue, the organisation stated: "Two people were scrambling when one suffered a dislocated knee, they managed to relocate it and get from the ridge to Llyn Caseg Fraith before needing to call for help."
"Team members walked up and treated them before the casualty was lifted to hospital by Maritime and Coastguard Agency."
