Killer gangster with £100k bounty mocks rivals at wedding after prison release
Killer with £100k bounty mocks rivals at wedding

Hashim Uddin, a convicted killer with a £100,000 bounty on his head, has mocked his rivals and confronted his victim's family at a wedding, according to underworld sources.

Uddin was released from prison earlier this year after being jailed for stabbing his brother-in-law Omer Sadiq to death in 2020 during a row at a flat in Glasgow. The Record previously reported that associates of Sadiq are offering a reward to anyone who can claim Uddin's scalp, and that he had gone into hiding.

Wedding Confrontation

Underworld sources have now told how Uddin was “moving like he owned the place” at a friend's recent wedding and delivered the message “I’m the man and I’m back” to his enemies. One source said: “Uddin is back causing trouble and making his presence felt.

“He was at this wedding, moving like he owns the place and he was telling everyone, 'I’m the man, I’m back'. He walked over to one of the tables and started mouthing off and swearing at a girl from Omer Sadiq's family. She swore back and people were forced to step in and stop it.

“Uddin has no remorse for what he did and he's making sure everybody knows he's still active and back in the game. He’s also been telling folk stories from prison which portray him as a hard man. He is looking for every opportunity to make noise, take control and to have everyone watching while he does it. But he should be on the edge and fearing for his life.”

Photos and Bounty

Photos taken at the ceremony show Uddin walking alongside a fleet of luxury cars with members of the wedding party. The grinning gangster can be seen dressed all in white and cream clothing, appearing visibly bulkier than in images from the time he was jailed.

The Record previously reported that friends of Sadiq first issued a £50,000 bounty on Uddin before it doubled to £100,000 after a run-in between the killer and a member of his victim's old gang at Glasgow's Silverburn shopping centre. Uddin then turned to the notorious Lyons crime clan to beg for protection.

A separate source told the Record at the time: “Hashim has asked the Lyons gang to help him. He was in jail with some guys who are affiliated to them and he was feeding them information about Sadiq's crew and where they stash their drugs. Now he seems to think these guys are his best pals and is calling in the favours. Time will tell if they actually give him the protection he is seeking. But this hasn't deterred his enemies in the slightest and they won't stop until they have avenged Sadiq's death.”

Background of the Killing

Uddin was jailed in 2021 over the killing of 32-year-old Sadiq the previous year. The High Court in Glasgow heard that Sadiq had gone to Uddin’s flat with his wife in an attempt to settle a family dispute in September 2020. There had been claims that Uddin, who was married to Sadiq's wife's sister Iqraa Malik, was having an affair behind her back.

Tensions erupted after Sadiq brought a dog into the house, upsetting Uddin. The two men began fighting, and Sadiq was struck twice with a hunting knife, later dying in hospital from his injuries. Uddin was accused of murder but prosecutors accepted his guilty plea to the lesser charge of culpable homicide. His advocate Thomas Ross QC said Sadiq’s reputation had intimidated Uddin and that the dog “introduced an element of fear”.

After the killing, a chilling photograph emerged showing Sadiq, Uddin, and another man enjoying drinks together at a table months before the death. At the time, a source said: “Just shows, you can be sitting with your killer and not even know it.”

Sadiq had been associated with race-hate killer Imran 'Baldy' Shahid of his notorious Shielders gang and was described by an underworld source as one of the “heaviest gangsters in Glasgow”. The underworld source previously explained that some "serious hitters" were just waiting for the right time to claim revenge for his death. Sadiq had previously been caught up in drug feuds and had used guns to intimidate rivals. In 2010, he was jailed for five years after chasing two rivals in a car on Pollokshaws Road, pointing a pistol at them and ramming their vehicle.
