Dad dies after being restrained on Jet2 flight to Manchester

A father and bareknuckle fighter has died after being restrained by fellow passengers on a Jet2 flight from Cyprus to Manchester Airport. Callum Kerr, from Warrington, boarded the flight from Larnaca with his girlfriend on June 21, 2026, and became disruptive mid-flight, reportedly after consuming a significant amount of alcohol before boarding.

Incident on board

Eyewitnesses reported that Kerr, in his 30s, turned aggressive, pacing the aisle and shouting at other travellers. He allegedly headbutted a passenger and threatened to fight others. Fellow passengers subdued him, and police were called regarding an alleged assault on the aircraft.

Upon arrival at Manchester Airport around 2:25 am on June 22, officers boarded the plane and found Kerr had stopped breathing. They performed CPR and requested a defibrillator before he was rushed to hospital in a critical condition. His death has since been confirmed by relatives to the Manchester Evening News.

Police investigation

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: 'An investigation is underway after a man became critically ill following reports that the same individual had been aggressive and disruptive towards a passenger and crew members on a flight heading into Manchester Airport.' The man was taken to hospital in a stable but critical condition, but later died.

The pilot informed passengers that the aircraft had become a crime scene. Travellers were taken by bus to a separate area of the airport for police questioning.

Jet2 statement

A Jet2 representative commented: 'We can confirm that flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester requested a priority landing on June 22, due to a disruptive passenger incident. We can confirm that a passenger has been taken to hospital. As an investigation is underway, it would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment at this time.'

Tributes

Heartfelt tributes have flooded social media. One mourner wrote: 'Can't believe I'm writing this RIP Callum Kerr wtf.' Another posted: 'God bless mate we'll catch up again.' A third said: 'Gunna miss that cheeky grin of his.'

The incident remains under investigation by Greater Manchester Police.
