A 30-year-old British tourist has been arrested in Mallorca after allegedly trying to kiss an air steward on the neck during a Ryanair flight from London Stansted to the holiday island. Police boarded the plane after it touched down and detained the man when the cabin attendant confirmed he wanted to press charges.
Incident Details
The tourist was reportedly heavily intoxicated when he began causing problems on the flight. The pilot radioed air traffic controllers at Palma Airport shortly before landing, requesting police assistance following the alleged sexual assault. Initially, the air steward declined to make a formal complaint, but later changed his mind and agreed to provide a statement to authorities.
Arrest and Court Appearance
Because the cabin attendant initially indicated he did not want to press charges, the tourist was identified but avoided immediate arrest. He left the plane, passed passport control, and was only arrested the following day when he attempted to board his return flight. He was then taken to court, where he appeared before a judge in shorts and handcuffs, escorted by two Civil Guard officers. The Brit has not been named.
Legal Outcome
He was released on bail pending an ongoing investigation into the June 29 incident. As of the latest reports, it was unclear whether he remains in Mallorca or has been allowed to leave the island and secured another flight home.
