Gwent Police have confirmed that a 41-year-old man was found dead in Monmouth town centre on Monday evening. Officers were called to Church Street at around 6pm on July 13 following reports of an unresponsive man outside a property.
Police Cordon and Investigation
A large police presence was reported at the scene, with part of Church Street and Agincourt Square cordoned off shortly after the call. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by attending officers.
A Gwent Police spokeswoman stated on Tuesday morning that the death is not being treated as suspicious. A police statement read: "At around 6pm on Monday, July 13, we received reports that a man had been found unresponsive outside a property in Church Street, Monmouth. Officers attended and a 41-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this time."
Community Response
The cordon has since been lifted, and the area has returned to normal. No further details about the man's identity have been released, and police have not disclosed the cause of death pending formal identification and coroner's inquiries.
