Ewen Cameron saves woman's life after dog leads him to injured owner

Radio presenter Ewen Cameron has described how he saved a woman's life after her heroic dog led him to its injured owner. The STV Radio star was driving home after taking his own dog Harley to Muiravonside Country Park in Falkirk on Friday, October 9, when he spotted a lone dog standing on the pavement.

Discovery of injured woman

Concerned by the pet's behaviour, Cameron stopped to investigate and was horrified to find a woman lying on the wet ground, hidden from view beside a wall. The woman had been stranded for two hours after suffering a serious injury and crawling as far as she could manage. She was struggling to speak, with blue lips, as she lay exposed to the wind and rain.

Cameron immediately removed her jacket and placed it beneath her head before covering her with his own to keep her warm. He called an ambulance but quickly realised one of the woman's two dogs was missing when he spotted a second lead.

Dogs' teamwork praised

He picked up the first dog and raced down the road, banging on neighbours' doors to find help. A neighbour answered after the woman's Jack Russell had been scratching at her door. The neighbour grabbed blankets and went to help.

Cameron told co-hosts Ronnie Charters and Callum Bell on the STV Radio Football Podcast: “I saved a woman’s life on Friday night.” He added: “Oh my God, dogs are such wonderful creatures. I still believe that dog who looked at me was out there trying to get my attention. It worked.”

Recovery and reward

Cameron praised the NHS for its swift response, revealing an ambulance arrived quickly after the emergency call. The woman had suffered a “very serious injury” and was recovering in hospital after successful surgery. Cameron plans to visit her when she returns home and promised to bring treats for her two dogs.
