Lucy & Yak to open Newcastle store as job advert appears

Popular UK clothing brand Lucy & Yak is set to open a store in Newcastle, with a job advert for a store manager already appearing online. While the company has yet to officially confirm the move, the vacancy signals a new arrival in the region.

Job advert reveals Newcastle plans

The advert, for a role paying £30,000 to £33,000 a year, describes the shop as believed to be opening on Grainger Street in Newcastle city centre. It reads: "As a Store Manager at Lucy & Yak, your role is to lead, manage and drive the success of your store by motivating & inspiring your team & building a community. You will always lead your team by example in creating outstanding brand experiences whilst seizing and creating commercial opportunities."

It adds: "Within your role you will train, develop, motivate and support your team to excel in all areas from day to day operations to smashing your store KPIs. As Store Manager you are responsible for ensuring your store always embodies Lucy & Yaks ethics and ethos in all areas, from Visual Merchandising to Customer Service."

Brand profile and product range

Established in 2017, Lucy & Yak is an independent, employee-owned British fashion brand known for its colourful, comfortable, and sustainable clothing, with a number of celebrity fans. It is best known for organic cotton dungarees, jumpsuits, footwear, lifestyle products and casual wear featuring vibrant prints.

The company uses 100% organic cotton, organic corduroy, recycled polyester, and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ viscose blends, with a focus on recycling. Prices for its garments typically range from £49 to £85 for dungarees and overalls, tops from £15, and £36 to £75 for bottoms, trousers and skirts.

Regional retail growth

The Newcastle opening follows a year of notable retail arrivals in the North East, including French Connection and the region's first dedicated Crocs shop at Dalton Park, Korean beauty brand PURESEOUL in Eldon Square, and the first Hollister at the Metrocentre, with Lefties and Bershka set to follow by the end of the year.

Among the qualities sought for the Newcastle store manager are a passion for the brand, a commitment to excellence, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to drive sales and achieve targets. An opening date is yet to be confirmed, but applications are open now.
