Tragedy on Derbyshire Roads Claims Two Young Lives
The Derbyshire community is in mourning today after a devastating early morning collision claimed the lives of two young women and left a nine-year-old boy with what police describe as life-changing injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:20am on Thursday, November 27, in the village of Pleasley. The crash involved a Vauxhall Meriva and a Suzuki Alto.
Victims Named Following Fatal Collision
Derbyshire Police have confirmed the identities of the two women who were pronounced dead at the scene. They are Amie Pearson, aged 26, and Chelsea Carlisle, aged 29.
A nine-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the same vehicle as the two women, was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have stated that his injuries are life-changing and he remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Arrest Made and Police Appeal
Following the collision, an 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Due to injuries he sustained in the crash, the suspect was also taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard. Two other men who were in the Vauxhall Meriva were also injured, with two of them suffering serious injuries.
Derbyshire Police have launched a full investigation and are appealing for witnesses. A spokesperson said: "We are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who witnessed the collision to come forward."
