A family has paid tribute to a father and grandfather who died in a motorcycle crash, describing him as the “most loving and devoted grandad” who was “adored beyond words”.
Crash details
David Doyle, from Weston-super-Mare, was killed when his motorbike was involved in a single-vehicle collision on the A370 near Bleadon at around 2pm on October 4. He was 53 years old.
His fiancée Danielle, children Paige and Jordan, and nephew Leon have spoken of their grief, calling David a devoted family man who “always made us feel like we could achieve anything we set our minds to”.
Family tribute
In an emotional tribute, they said: “It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Anthony Doyle, a father, grandad, uncle and brother, who was taken in a tragic accident at the young age of 53. He was also a devoted fiancé to Danielle.”
“Our lives have been turned upside down. Just as life started to look up for him and all his dreams were coming to fruition, his life has been cut far too short.
“As a father, he was one of the most selfless, caring and loving people you could ever meet. He was always there to help others, never hesitating to put everyone else before himself. He always made us feel like we could achieve anything we set our minds to, giving us the love, support and belief in ourselves, and that will be carried with us forever.”
“His kindness, love, and the memories we shared will stay with us forever. He may no longer be by our side, but he will live on in our hearts, always,” his family added.
Passion for engines
David always had a love for engines, and his passion for cars and motorbikes was a defining part of who he was, his family said. Over the years, this passion saw him own and enjoy some wonderful machines, from classic cars such as the Lotus Esprit to iconic bikes such as the 1957 Royal Enfield.
His family added: “Many weekends were spent travelling to events and gatherings, enjoying classic race days, such as the Brands Hatch Historics, the Goodwood Revival, and the Prescott Hill Climb.
“These occasions brought together his love of motoring, his appreciation of engineering, and the excitement of seeing the vehicles he loved and admired in action.
“David’s interest in cars and motorbikes was about much more than the machines themselves; it was a reflection of his character, his enthusiasm for life and his appreciation for things with history, and a story to tell.
“His passion gave him so much enjoyment and created many lasting memories. It was a true part of who David was, and one that will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.”
Funeral arrangements
His funeral will be held at 12.30pm at the St Austin and St Gregory Church in Margate, Kent on Wednesday 28 October. A gathering will also be held afterwards at The Hussar pub, in Garlinge, Margate.
