Stuart Lee Duncanson, a 61-year-old British expat from Barrhead near Glasgow, was found dead with shotgun wounds at his home in Didim, Turkey, on October 18, after family members raised the alarm when they were unable to contact him.
Discovery at Didim home
Duncanson was found with fatal injuries at his detached house in Aydin, Turkey. He is said to have been battling serious health issues in the lead-up to his death. It is currently unknown whether a family member or the emergency services first discovered the tragic scene.
The British national is said to have been residing with his mother and father at a property in the popular seaside resort town of Didim, on the country's west coast. On entering the home, investigators reportedly discovered his body with fatal shotgun wounds.
No suspicious circumstances
Police believe Duncanson may have taken his own life after confirming there were no suspicious circumstances at the scene. His body has been sent for post-mortem as investigators work to confirm the exact cause of death.
A friend, who asked to remain anonymous, told Turkish media: "He was a wonderful person. We will miss him terribly. I just can't believe it."
Funeral arrangements
Another loved one, Lynn Cole, took to Facebook to share details of Duncanson's funeral, which is due to take place today (26 Oct). Cole asked mourners to avoid wearing dark clothes as a way of celebrating Duncanson's life.
She wrote: "It is with deep sympathy we announce the sad death of Stuart Lee Duncanson. Stuart's funeral will take place this Monday, 26th October. The family requests we meet at Scarlet Bar in Yesiltepi at 12.45 to leave at 1.15 for the service at Yalikoy at 2.00 pm.
