Ketamine driver banned after Rhos-on-Sea arrest

A motorist who drove along a seafront road while under the influence of ketamine has been banned from driving. Alex Lehane, 24, was stopped by police and a subsequent test showed he had taken the drug.

Lehane pleaded guilty to the drug driving charge at Llandudno Magistrates Court. The court heard he was driving a Volkswagen car on Marine Drive in Rhos-on-Sea on September 11.

Blood test over legal limit

Lehane, of Brookfield Drive, Rhos-on-Sea, was found to have ketamine in his blood above the legal limit. His defence solicitor, Hannah Gorst, asked the court for an adjournment so a pre-sentence report could be prepared.

Bench chairman Huw McKee agreed to the adjournment for a report by the probation service. He told Lehane his sentence will fall into the "community order area".

Interim disqualification imposed

The magistrates adjourned his case for the next hearing at the same court on Monday, November 9. McKee gave the defendant an interim driving disqualification and granted him unconditional bail until then.
