The report, presented to the UN Security Council, details a shocking 135% increase in terrorist attacks in the first quarter of the year, signalling a dangerous new phase of instability. The conflict has ravaged north-east Nigeria and the surrounding Lake Chad basin, creating one of the world's most severe displacement crises.
A Region on the Brink
Communities are living under a constant shadow of terror. The UN's findings highlight a grim reality of massacres, abductions, and the widespread destruction of villages and critical infrastructure like schools and medical facilities. This systematic violence has made daily life a struggle for survival for millions.
The Deepening Human Cost
