Men Released on Bail After Golders Green Ambulance Arson Attack
Two British men, aged 45 and 47, who were arrested in connection with a suspected arson attack on ambulances in Golders Green, have been released on bail until April. The men were detained on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, following a series of police searches at addresses in Kilburn and Kings Cross, with additional operations conducted in north-west London.
Counter Terrorism Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Policing London is leading the investigation into the attack, which targeted four Hatzola ambulances. Authorities are examining whether an Islamist group, with possible links to the Iranian state, was responsible for the arson. The incident caused gas canisters to explode, resulting in damage to nearby properties and heightening concerns in the local community.
Enhanced Policing Measures Implemented
In response to the attack, an enhanced policing plan has been activated across vulnerable areas in London. This includes highly visible armed patrols aimed at reassuring the public, particularly the local Jewish community, which has been directly impacted by the events. The measures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent further incidents.
The release of the suspects on bail marks a significant development in the case, as investigators continue to gather evidence and pursue leads. The community remains on alert, with police urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
