Bomb threat on CalMac ferry after passenger rescue

A bomb threat was reported on board the MV Caledonian Isles on Friday evening, August 21, shortly after a passenger who had gone overboard was rescued. The incident led to the cancellation of remaining scheduled sailings from Ardrossan Harbour.

Passenger rescued from sea

At around 5.30pm, during the 4.40pm sailing from Brodick to Ardrossan, a person was reported overboard. CalMac crew launched their Fast Rescue Craft, alerted HM Coastguard, and successfully removed the individual from the sea.

Bomb threat and emergency response

Following the rescue, a threat was received stating that a bomb was on board the vessel. The crew immediately activated emergency protocols, including a thorough search and the removal of passengers on foot once the ferry berthed at Ardrossan harbour.
