Ann Widdecombe's Final Interview 20 Minutes Before Attack

Ann Widdecombe, the 78-year-old former MP and Reform UK spokeswoman, gave a final radio interview just 20 minutes before she was allegedly attacked in her home in Haytor, Devon, last week. Police believe she may have been killed on Wednesday, July 8, at approximately 12:30 PM. Her body was discovered at about 11:40 AM on Thursday, July 9, with serious injuries.

Arrest and Terrorism Investigation

A 28-year-old white British man was arrested on Saturday, July 11, on suspicion of murder. He has since been rearrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism. The arrest took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, following the death of the former MP.

Timeline of Events

If police theory regarding the time of death is correct, Widdecombe was attacked just minutes after she participated in a pre-recorded interview with Christian radio station TWR-UK. The interview was conducted between 11:54 AM and 12:10 PM on Wednesday, July 8. During the interview, she discussed Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and the by-election call. The interview never aired following news of her death, but Times Radio published part of it on Tuesday, July 14.

Widdecombe's Final Words

In the pre-recorded interview, Widdecombe said: “Let’s bring an end to it, let’s bring this to a head, let’s put it to the people to see what they think of all of this. There has been a game now for a very long time, a game of personal destruction, not just for Nigel, for lots and lots of politicians that face this.”

This is a breaking news story and is being constantly updated.
