In a horrifying dawn raid, armed terrorists have stormed a private Catholic school in Nigeria and kidnapped more than fifty students.
School Invasion and Mass Abduction
The attack occurred on Friday morning at the St Mary’s Papiri Private Catholic Secondary School, located in the Agwara area of Niger State. An armed gang invaded the school grounds and seized 52 children.
Local reports confirm the assailants were heavily armed, enabling them to carry out the mass abduction with little resistance. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a major security response.
Major Security Operation Underway
In response to the crisis, a large-scale search and rescue mission has been launched. Police tactical units, military personnel, and various security agencies have been deployed to the region.
Forces are currently scouring the surrounding forests in a desperate bid to locate and safely recover the kidnapped students. The difficult terrain in the area presents a significant challenge to the operation.
A Disturbing Pattern of Violence
This tragic event is not an isolated incident. It comes just five days after another attack on an educational institution. Armed bandits targeted the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School in Maga, located in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
This repeated targeting of schools highlights a deeply concerning trend of violence against children and education in certain parts of Nigeria, raising urgent questions about security and protection for vulnerable students.
