Rapist Cop Jailed 25 Years for Dating App Attacks

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for a series of rapes and sexual assaults against women he met on dating apps. Dion Arnold, 33, was convicted at Guildford Crown Court of four counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual assault, committed between March 2023 and March 2025 against four victims.

Abuse of Trust and Positions of Authority

Arnold, who also served as an Army reserves medic, used his status as a police officer to build trust with vulnerable women he encountered through dating apps and social media. Judge Deborah Charles noted that he had a “deep-seated need to control women” and exhibited “deep levels of misogyny.” The court heard that Arnold raped one victim while she was asleep, choked another with a scarf until she lost consciousness, and proposed role-playing a home invasion to one woman.

Despite his roles in law enforcement and the military, there is no evidence that he met any of the complainants through these positions. He had previously worked on domestic abuse cases within the Met.

Investigation and Evidence

The investigation began in March 2025 when the first victim reported Arnold to Surrey Police. A forensic examination of his mobile phone revealed a list of over 30 women he had slept with, including notes on their medical conditions. This list led detectives to identify three additional victims, none of whom knew each other.

Detective Inspector Hannah Randall of Surrey Police’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team praised the victims: “These women believed that they could trust him because he held two positions of trust with respectable professions. But Arnold chose to continue sexually assaulting and raping these women. It is down to these four women that Dion Arnold has been brought to justice.”

Sentencing and Impact

Judge Charles sentenced Arnold to 25 years in prison with an additional eight years on licence, citing limited evidence of genuine remorse. The judge stated that Arnold had a “deep-seated need to control women.” Arnold had been in custody since his arrest in March 2025 and was subsequently dismissed from the Met Police after his conviction in March-April 2026.

Arnold’s case adds to a troubling pattern of Met officers convicted of serious sexual offences, including serial rapist David Carrick and the murderer of Sarah Everard, Wayne Couzens.
