Amanda Wilkie, 46, of Southworth Road in Newton-le-Willows, has been spared jail after racially abusing her neighbour while already subject to two suspended sentences for stabbing her boyfriend and abandoning her XL bullies. Liverpool Crown Court heard on June 23, 2026, that Wilkie shouted a racist slur at her neighbour Amy Clark's boyfriend, claiming he wanted to sleep with her.
Breach of Suspended Sentences
Wilkie had been handed a 15-month sentence suspended for two years in April 2023 after stabbing her boyfriend with a six-inch steak knife. In July 2025, she received a further 10-month suspended sentence for leaving her XL bullies in Willow Park, where they attacked other dogs and owners while she went home to drink alcohol. Both orders were breached on September 30, 2025.
Prosecutor Simon Leong told the court that Ms Clark returned from the gym at around 7.15pm and heard Wilkie shouting "f***ing cow" and "f***ing scumbag" from outside her home. Ms Clark recorded audio, which was played in court, capturing Wilkie using a racist slur and claiming Ms Clark's boyfriend wanted to have sex with her.
Guilty Plea and Defence
Wilkie initially denied being the person on the recording but later pleaded guilty to racially aggravated harassment. Brendan Carville, defending, described the incident as "very unpleasant" and asked the judge to impose a further suspended sentence with rehabilitation days. He noted Wilkie's modest income and reliance on benefits.
Judge Andrew Menary KC condemned the abuse as "vile" and said Ms Clark was entitled to feel safe in her own home. However, he opted not to activate the suspended sentences, citing Wilkie's mental health struggles, history of domestic violence victimisation, and caring responsibilities for her 16-year-old daughter.
Sentence and Restraining Order
Wilkie was sentenced to a one-year community order with 10 rehabilitation requirement days, plus an additional five days for breaching the suspended sentence orders. A restraining order was also imposed, banning her from contacting Ms Clark for two years.
