Kirstie Allsopp Slams Russell Brand After Conviction

Kirstie Allsopp has criticised Russell Brand following his conviction for rape and sexual assault, resurfacing a tweet she posted in 2015 that questioned his attitude towards women.

The 55-year-old Location, Location, Location host took to X on Friday, November 5, to share her reaction. Her original post, dated April 28 2015, read: "Am I the only one who thinks Russell Brands reputation may suggest he doesn't have the attitude to women I might hope my sons will have?"

Allsopp's Reaction to the Verdict

Writing to her 426,000 followers, Allsopp said: "It was always as clear as day that Russell Brand was a disgusting t***.. That said I feel incredibly sorry for those women who have been conned by him, and impressed by the bravery of those who came forward."

Brand, 51, was convicted of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The judge told him "obviously a custodial sentence of some length will result." He was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on Monday.

Trial Background and Charges

The conviction followed a trial in which Brand's legal team argued that a 2023 Channel 4 Dispatches documentary had prompted a wave of fabricated accusations. They also criticised the victims for speaking out only after the programme aired, despite some complaints having been lodged years earlier.

Brand faced a total of seven charges: three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and one of attempted indecent assault. He was cleared of three of the charges. The charges spanned a decade, from 1999 to 2009, and involved six women, all entitled to lifelong anonymity.

Numerous celebrities had previously condemned his conduct, with comments emerging well before the documentary and this week's guilty verdict.
