Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of Steven Dossett, a 40-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Failsworth last month. The attack occurred on Hale Lane at approximately 9:50pm on June 19, prompting a large emergency response. Mr Dossett was treated at the scene for stab wounds and taken to hospital, where he died on July 4.
Arrests and Family Support
Four men and one woman, aged between 17 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and assault. They have been released on bail as investigations continue. Mr Dossett's family are being supported by specialist officers and have requested privacy. A police statement said: "Steven’s family are devastated by his loss and kindly request that their privacy be respected at this time."
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, Senior Investigating Officer from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This was a shocking attack, which has now evolved into a murder investigation following the death of Steven last week. His family are being supported by specialist officers at this time, and we are keeping them updated as our work continues at pace. While we have made several arrests, we are still appealing for information and would urge anyone who witnessed anything of significance, or has any information relating to this incident, to please contact us. Even the smallest of detail may assist our enquiries.”
Officers are particularly keen to obtain any CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the Hale Lane area.
