Police Detective Accused of Upskirting in Court

Detective Constable Lee Harshey-Jones, a North Wales Police officer, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday morning facing charges of upskirting, perverting the course of justice, and corrupt exercise of police powers. The 45-year-old, of Francis Avenue, Conwy, was arrested following an incident in the Colwyn Bay area on June 11.

Charges and Court Appearance

Harshey-Jones has been charged with recording an image under clothing to observe another without consent, known as upskirting; committing an act or series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice; and corrupt or improper exercise of police powers and privileges by a constable. Dressed in a black suit and tie, he appeared before Judge Michael Leeming for a plea and trial preparation hearing. No pleas were entered, but a provisional trial date was set for August 16, 2027, scheduled to last five days. Judge Leeming granted Harshey-Jones conditional bail.

Background and Police Response

Harshey-Jones was previously a lead investigator in the death of two-year-old Ethan Ives-Griffiths, whose grandparents were jailed for murder last year. North Wales Police confirmed the officer has been suspended from duties. A spokesperson stated it would be inappropriate for the force to comment further at this time.
