Nevada Man Files Lawsuit Against Golden Corral Over Violent Fork Attack

A Nevada man has initiated legal action against the Golden Corral restaurant chain and three of its employees, alleging a brutal assault that included being stabbed with a fork after being wrongly accused of not settling his bill. The incident, which has sparked a lawsuit seeking significant damages, occurred at a Henderson location approximately 18 miles southwest of Las Vegas.

Details of the Alleged Assault at the Buffet Restaurant

According to the lawsuit filed on Tuesday, Gary Sellinger, aged 59, was dining with two friends at the Golden Corral in Henderson on February 2, 2025. Approximately twenty minutes into their meal, employee Jamie Crafts approached their table and accused the group of attempting to leave without paying. Sellinger asserts that he produced a receipt as proof of payment for all three individuals, but this only escalated the situation.

The legal complaint states that Crafts became increasingly aggressive and demanded they vacate the premises. As Sellinger stood up to surrender his silverware, another employee allegedly seized him by the neck and forcefully slammed him into the table. Additional staff members reportedly joined the altercation, resulting in Sellinger being knocked to the ground where he struck his head.

Severe Injuries and Legal Claims

During the alleged attack, Sellinger claims he was subjected to being hit, kicked, and stabbed with a fork, sustaining what are described as irreversible injuries. These include a traumatic brain injury, along with numerous scratches and stab wounds across his body. While the exact locations of the stab wounds are not specified in the lawsuit, it notes injuries were widespread.

Keith Galliher, Sellinger's attorney, informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the brain injury occurred when Sellinger hit his head on a chair during the alleged takedown. Galliher mentioned possessing photographic evidence of the injuries but declined to share them with media outlets. The Henderson Police Department confirmed officers were dispatched to the Golden Corral at 6:08 p.m. on the day of the incident, though no arrests were made following their investigation.

Lawsuit Targets Corporate Entities and Management

The lawsuit names multiple defendants, including corporate entities such as BLH, LLC; BB Hospitality, LLC; Heinz Enterprises, LLC; and NV GC, LLC, as well as the restaurant's general manager, Amy Bearden. The complaint alleges negligence in the hiring practices of these defendants, holding them responsible for the employees' actions.

Sellinger is seeking general, special, and punitive damages exceeding $15,000 each, in addition to reimbursement for legal costs. Efforts to obtain comments from Bearden and other involved employees have so far been unsuccessful, leaving the allegations unchallenged in public statements.

This case highlights serious concerns over customer safety and employee conduct in dining establishments, with potential implications for corporate liability and hiring standards in the hospitality industry.
