Man Dies in Violent Bar Attack; Murder Probe Launched

Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation after a man in his 30s died following a 'violent and shocking' attack at a bar in Ashton-under-Lyne town centre. Officers were called at 2:40am on July 11 to Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar, formerly known as Olivers Bar, on Bow Street. They found a man with serious injuries who was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:48am despite CPR efforts.

Arrest Made in Connection with Fatal Assault

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning. The victim has not been formally identified, but his family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. Police believe the attack was isolated and poses no wider threat to the public.

Detective Superintendent Ian McNabb of GMP described the incident as 'a violent and shocking attack that tragically took the life of a young man.' He urged anyone with information, including witnesses or those with footage from the area, to come forward.
